Better understand pneumonia and how to support people with a learning disability or autistic people to stay well. You will learn what pneumonia is, including aspiration pneumonia, what signs and symptoms to look out for, and why some people may be at higher risk. The course explores how changes in behaviour or health may be early warning signs, and introduces helpful tools that can support you in recognising when someone may be unwell.
You will also learn simple, practical steps you can take to reduce the risk of pneumonia, including supporting good oral care, healthy lifestyles, and regular health checks. By the end of the module, you will feel more confident in spotting concerns early, taking the right action, and helping to keep the people you care for safe and healthy.
