Level 2 - Principles of Dementia Care

This course is accessible to all residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is available at:

• Newcastle and Stafford College Group
• Stoke-on-Trent College

This nationally accredited qualification provides essential knowledge and skills for supporting individuals living with dementia. It covers understanding different forms of dementia, person-centred care, positive communication strategies, and the importance of dignity, respect, and empowerment. The programme also addresses issues related to medication and appropriate activities for individuals with dementia.

Level 2 - Dementia Awareness

This course is accessible to all residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is available at:

• South Staffordshire College

Dementia is one of the main causes of disability in later life. This course is ideal for those wishing to raise their understanding and awareness of the issues surrounding dementia, its causes and treatments as well as good working practice.

Level 3 - Principles of Dementia Care

This course is accessible to all residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is available at:

• Stoke-on-Trent College

This qualification enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia. Successful completion of the units will allow learners to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of dementia and its effects.
 

The objectives of this qualification are to enable learners to understand:
 

• Types of dementia and the importance of early diagnosis
• Person-centred approaches in dementia care
• The role of communication, interaction and inclusion in dementia care and support
• The use of medication to support individuals with dementia.
