Description

Apprenticeships are a vital pathway for individuals seeking to develop their career and skills. These programs offer a unique combination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge, equipping apprentices with the skills and competencies needed to excel in various roles.

Apprentices spend a significant portion of their time working alongside experienced staff, this hands-on approach allows them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios

Upon completion of an apprenticeship, individuals are well-positioned to pursue further qualifications and career advancement. Many apprentices continue their education through higher-level apprenticeships.

Nursing Associate

Nursing Associate

A Nursing Associate is a role that bridges the gap between care workers and registered nurses. They work with people and their families, carers, and partners to promote health and prevent ill health. Their role means they work with adults of all ages and their partners, families and carers.

A registered nursing associate working in social care has some of the following responsibilities:

  • Carrying out clinical tasks such as blood pressure, temperature and ECGs.
  • Monitoring an individual's condition and behaviour, and sharing this information with the registered nurse.
  • Supporting adults of all ages and their partners, families, and carers.
  • Working closely with a registered nurse and interacting with different professionals such as doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers.
  • Working closely with colleagues to monitor the care and support they offer.

Nursing Associates are registered with the nursing and midwifery council.

This qualification is ideal for someone who is looking to work within the clinical aspects of care without being a registered nurse.

Registered Nurse

Registered nurse degree (level 6)

Registered nurses in social care are professionals responsible for assessing, planning, and providing nursing care to individuals with complex health needs. They work collaboratively within teams to enhance the quality of life of those they care for, ensuring that care is person-centred and holistic.

Nurses working in social care often have distinct expertise, high levels of autonomy, decision making and responsibility so that they can offer high quality support and individual choice to people with a range of complex needs.

This qualification is ideal for someone who is currently a Nursing Associate and is looking progress to being a Registered Nurse. You do not have to be a Nursing Associate prior to training to be a Registered Nurse.

Being a registered nurse opens up access to a wide variety of clinical roles.
