Description

Spirituality and End of Life Care explores the profound aspects of spirituality in the context of end-of-life care. This course delves into essential topics such as understanding what spirituality is and the role of religion in spiritual care. Participants will learn to identify and address spiritual distress, recognising that spirituality can be challenging to navigate. The course provides guidance on the aims and assessments of spiritual care, including its integration within healthcare settings.

This training is suitable for all care support worker staff.

 

This training is equivalent to one hour participatory hours for CPD. A certificate will be provided upon completion of this training.

 

This training does discuss death and dying, and may be upsetting for some audiences.

 

This training was developed by the MPFT Palliative and End of Life Care Team (Palliative + EOLC).

Objectives

  • Recognise that everyone has a spiritual dimension.
  • Identify individuals who have spiritual/religious needs.
  • Develop awareness that spiritual needs require acknowledgement.
  • Identify how to approach assessment of spirituality.
  • Define spiritual distress & develop means of supporting people in spiritual distress.
  • Recognise that some individuals have a religious element to their spirituality.
  • Develop awareness of own spirituality and how this impacts on self.
