This Lite-bite course introduces the essential aspects of respecting and facilitating personal choices regarding appearance in adult social care. It emphasises the importance of honouring individual preferences, whether it involves a specific hairstyle, choice of clothing, or wearing makeup, to boost self-confidence and sense of identity. The course also highlights the significance of promoting dignity and self-respect, which are crucial for mental and emotional health. Apprenticeships are a vital pathway for individuals seeking to develop their career and skills. These programs offer a unique combination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge, equipping apprentices with the skills and competencies needed to excel in various roles. Apprentices spend a significant portion of their time working alongside experienced staff, this hands-on approach allows them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios Upon completion of an apprenticeship, individuals are well-positioned to pursue further qualifications and career advancement. Many apprentices continue their education through higher-level apprenticeships.   Lead Practitioner in Adult Care   Lead practitioner in adult care (level 4)   The Lead Practitioner apprenticeship is an ideal qualification for someone looking to progress onto a management role. Someone in this role will typically already lead a small team and will be looking to move onto a management role that requires additional skills. Local Partners Lead Practitioner in Adult Care Higher Apprenticeship (NSCG)   Leader in Adult Care   Leader in adult care (level 5)   Leadership roles in a care setting can include Deputy Managers and Managers, but can also include other management roles in larger care settings. This apprenticeship is ideal for someone in a leadership or looking to step into a leadership role. Local Partners Lead in Adult Care Higher Apprenticeship (NSCG)   What to do next Speak with your line manager or supervisor about your interest in your chosen apprenticeship. You will need to agree which institution will provide your apprenticeship, local Colleges and Universities deliver apprenticeship courses but other options can be identified through the Government apprenticeship training courses page. Welcome to this module focused on leading person-centred care Everything you do as a leader and manager in adult social care must facilitate, promote and embed person-centred approaches to care and support and enhance the lives of the people accessing your service. Person-centredness should underpin everything you and your team do, ensuring that individuals’ are able to live meaningful, fulfilled and productive lives, being seen and treated as complete individuals, engaged with their loved ones and within their communities. In this module, you’ll start to explore some of the skills you need to ensure you lead truly person-centred services. You need a range of skills, knowledge and qualities to be successful, and you need the ability to draw off these at different times in different situations. You also need to keep an eye on what is happening locally and nationally that will affect your service, and be able to respond, adapt and evolve. In this module, you’ll start to explore some of those abilities and plan your next steps to leading and managing good and outstanding adult social care services. They are held externally to the Social Care Academy.   At the point of creating this course, all courses were free, however learners should contact the college to confirm they are eligible to complete the course for free. Some courses may result in a charge if they are not finished in time. We recommend enrolling in this course as a reminder, and to see the more detailed descriptions of each college's offer. Courses Level 1 - Award in Mental Health Awareness This course is accessible to all residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is available at: Newcastle and Stafford College Group This mental health course is designed for anyone who wants to develop their knowledge and understanding of mental health principles, and learn useful skills that will benefit their career progression.  Level 2 - Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems This course is accessible to all residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is available at: Burton and South Derbyshire College Newcastle and Stafford College Group South Staffordshire College Stoke-on-Trent College This certificate is designed to expand your understanding of mental health problems. It covers various types of mental health difficulties, exploring the meaning, causes, effects, symptoms and management of different conditions.  Level 3 - Understanding Mental Health This course is accessible to all residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is available at: Burton and South Derbyshire College Stoke-on-Trent College This course will explore mental health and well-being in-depth. It will teach you about mental health legislation, and how legislation, services and public attitudes have evolved. It explores types of mental health conditions, treatment options and improves skills to allow you to work in a mental health service.   Understanding Eating Disorders This course is accessible to all residents of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is available at: Burton and South Derbyshire College This course is not accredited. This course aims to give learners the knowledge required to understand the impact of, and key issues surrounding, eating disorders. It will develop awareness of the harmful effects that eating disorders can have on individuals and those closest to them.
