This course is for Staffordshire Adult Social Care providers delivering care to individuals in Staffordshire or for individuals outside of Staffordshire receiving care funded or commissioned by Staffordshire County Council.

Course Aim and Description

This training provides participants with the relevant knowledge, understanding and a practical ability to conduct risk assessments 
appropriate to the workplace and client group, while focusing on the relevant health and safety legislation educating participants 
to recognise the need for risk assessment and the potential hazards associated with the working environment.

Learning Objectives:

• The principles and practice of Risk Assessment
• Explain and evaluate risk assessing legislation as identified in the Health and Safety at Work Act 
• Risk assessing people in care in accordance with their care plan
• Risk assessment in a workplace according to the particular environment and their care plan.
• Hazard identification & stages involved in risk assessment 
• The meaning and elements of the ‘hierarchy of control’
• Understand the difference between likelihood, frequency and impact of harm
• How to complete a risk assessment
• The importance of reviewing risk assessments
• Recording, monitoring, reviewing and revising workplace risk assessments
Teaching Methods 
This course will be delivered by a variety of teaching methods including: - presentations; case studies; small group discussion; 
whole group discussion; individual work

Please note, by booking onto this training course you are committing to attending at the referenced date and time. Your space on this session has cost Staffordshire County Council and while there is not a cost to yourself or your organisation, public funds have been utilised to fund the training. 

If you cannot attend, you can send someone in your place but we will require notification so we can update the course register. 

If you are unable to attend or send someone in your place, we ask for 7 working days’ notice in order to have the opportunity to offer this space to others.

Refreshments will not be provided on the day, however there are shops close by and a cafe on site.

If you have any additional requirements, such as the need for British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation or mobility requirements, please let us know in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements to accommodate your needs.
